Selfie Culture, a downward spiral

A few months ago I admittedly didn't know what a ‘selfie’ was. Today  ? well I can’t get away from them. Thanks to the majority of people, celebrities and now a song, yes a song !. Addicted to brands ?

A relationship too far

Addicted to brands

Whether it be fast food, clothing, vehicles, gadgets or subscriptions, we all have our regular used brands. The ones eyes are trained to recognise with constant advertising, no matter how enormous a supermarket, car park, selection of people, we instantly zoom in on the ‘safe’ stuff. The clothing that gets us noticed the car that portrays a status or personality we always wanted. Or the fast food that stays the same, no matter what foreign lands we explore.

Throughout our life we experience thousands of brands, we recognise and trust certain brands, whilst actively disengaging with others. We form relationships, and bonds.

Obsessed with money ?

Aspirations to earn more money ? Expectations of a sense of fulfilment ? Money a measurement of success ?

We find these conclusions throughout life. Throughout we are told of our mission in life “Get good grades, and you will achieve in life” “well paid jobs only come to those who achieve, high in school, college, Uni, Work”  But what is this ultimate life accomplishment? What is the well paid job ? The success we all wait for in life.  Why do I ask these questions you ask, I have seen people stuck in their bubbles, frustrated. As life passes some by, others tell widely of their success. But this success is always measured the same …… In terms of money ad course.
